EBay Inc. has sold recommendation engine StumbleUpon, a move likely to increase speculation beats e-commerce giant in May soon move to unload the unit Skype Internet telephony.
EBay, which bought two years ago StumbleUpon for $ 75 million, said it appeared there was little long-term strategic synergies between StumbleUpon and eBay the other units. San Jose, California, the company has not disclosed how much it sold for StumbleUpon.

The sale of StumbleUpon, which has developed a downloadable toolbar to help Internet users discover and share content online, comes just weeks after eBay, John Donahoe Chief Executive said that analysts it would not be "the power of the synergies where they exist." (flv Player skin)
Mr. Donahoe also admitted there are few synergies between eBay and Skype, the company purchased $ 2.6 billion in 2005.
EBay recently said it would focus on strengthening its PayPal online payments business and focus on driving growth through its various platforms of e-commerce. A spokesman declined to comment on speculation eBay might sell Skype to its founders. (flv to will)
StumbleUpon is now supported by the original company founders and a number of well-known investors including Ram Shriram Sherpalo Ventures, Accel Partners and August Capital.
